WHAT TO DO IN ISTANBUL?
In addition to its incredible mosques, rich museums , and Turkish baths , Istanbul is full of incredible places. In this section you will find the most famous tourist attractions and other lesser-known places, which are nevertheless worth visiting.
HISTORIC MONUMENTS
Istanbul is mainly known for its Byzantine and Ottoman architecture, but its buildings reflect the different peoples and empires that previously ruled the city. Examples of Genoese and Roman architecture remain visible in Istanbul alongside their Ottoman counterparts. Nothing of the architecture of the classical Greek period has survived, but Roman architecture has been found to be more enduring.
MUSEUMS
Several of the historical monuments have recently been considered as museums in Istanbul, such as the Hagia Sophia or the Galata Tower ...
However, some have been bearing their museum names for much longer.
